| “Tarragona, City of Human Towers”, is a pioneering initiative that came about in 2013 with the dual aim of achieving renown and tourism positioning by bringing both the people of the city, those who were not in one of the groups, and tourists closer to the human tower building world; and, at the same time, capitalising on one of country’s main cultural and traditional resources, the human towers, declared an Intangible Heritage of Humanity.
This initiative gets support and organisation from the Municipal Tourist Board and the four tower building groups in the city (Xiquets de Tarragona, Jove dels Xiquets de Tarragona, Xiquets del Serrallo and Castellers de Sant Pere i Sant Pau). |
